Zero Down was an American punk rock band from Los Angeles , California .
Band history
Founded Zero Down by former Strung Out - and Pulley -Bassisten Jim Cherry , the former War Called Peace guitar-player John McCree and former Down By Law -Schlagzeuger Milo Todesco .
The band released their first and only album in 2001. With A Lifetime To Pay was released on Fat Wreck Chords . The style of the record was based on the sound of the former bands of the musicians and corresponded to Melodycore / Skatepunk , as it emerged in the mid-1990s and was shaped by bands like NOFX , Millencolin and Pennywise .
In August 2001, the band was joined by a second guitarist, Shawn Dewey, who previously played with Lagwagon .
On July 7, 2002, the band came to an abrupt end when Jim Cherry suddenly passed away. As a result of the first reports, Cherry died of an accidentally taken drug overdose. However, these reports were later revoked. In December 2002, the label Fat Wreck Chords announced, according to information from Cherry's family, that he had suffered from cardiac arrhythmias and high blood pressure throughout his life. A clogged artery was responsible for his sleep death.
