Zhang Fei ( Chinese  張飛 , Pinyin Zhāng Fēi ), stylized Yide ( 翼德 ; * 167 in Zhou; † 221 ) was brother in arms of Liu Bei and Guan Yu and one of the Five Tiger Generals of the Shu Han .

At the battle of the Hu Lao Gate he fought against Lü Bu and received the rank of Imperial Corps Commander from Cao Cao , who was then allied with Liu Bei. When Nanjun was conquered, Zhang Fei became governor of Yidu and was given the title of "Lord of Xinting". He also succeeded in setting a trap for General Yan Yan when attacking Liu Zhang and handing him and his troops over to Liu Bei. After Chengdu was conquered, Zhang Fei was named a "general who will conquer the west." He later also became governor of Baxi and one of the Five Tiger Generals. When Liu Bei became Emperor of the Shu, he named Zhang Fei the "Right General."

After the death of his companion Guan Yu ( 219 ) he swore to avenge him, but fell into drinking. When planning an attack against Wu, he got into an argument with his officers and was killed by them.
