Zhang started in Mammoth for the first time in the Freestyle Skiing World Cup in February 2017 . She was disqualified. In the 2017/18 season she achieved her first podium finish in the World Cup with third place in Copper Mountain and her first World Cup victory with first place in Secret Garden Skiresort . At the season highlight, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she was ninth. She finished the season in 15th place in the overall World Cup and in third place in the Halfpipe World Cup. At the Junior World Championships in Cardrona , she won the bronze medal with 80.6 points. In the following season she came with two third places and one victory again third place in the Halfpipe World Cup. At the 2019 World Championships in Park City , she was eighth. Also in the 2019/20 season, she finished third in the Halfpipe World Cup. She won her third World Cup victory in Cardrona. At the Winter X Games 2020 in Aspen , she came fourth.
