Zhang Yuqi (2008)

Zhang Yuqi ( Chinese  張雨 綺 , Pinyin Zhāng Yǔqǐ ; born August 8, 1986 ), also known as Kitty Zhang Yuqi , is a Chinese actress . Her first major role was in Stephen Chow's film CJ7 in 2007 , which earned her a lot of media attention and was the breakthrough for her career as an actress.

biography

Zhang was born in China in Shandong Province . She left Shandong at the age of 15 to attend drama school in Shanghai .

Also in 2007 she received a minor supporting role in the film The Longest Night in Shanghai . Stephen Chow spotted her in an advertisement for Kentucky Fried Chicken and chose her to star in his film CJ7 . The role garnered her a lot of media attention and due to Chow's habit of filling large roles with new actors, she later got other leading roles in his films. Zhang was therefore also called 星 女郎 ( xīng nǚ láng , "star girls" or " Sing girls " - Sing Yeh is a well-known nickname of Chow).

After CJ7 , Zhang had a role in the Japanese film Shaolin Girl , also produced by Chow, and the lead role in the Chinese film All About Women . Chow considered her for the movie Dragonball Evolution , but the role eventually got a different actress. Zhang also appeared in the movie Jump from Stephen Fung on.

Zhang appeared in Elle and other magazines. In June 2009 she was a guest of honor at the Montblanc Arts Patronage Awards ceremony.
