Zhou Haibin (Chinese: 周海滨; born July 19, 1985 in Dalian ) is a Chinese football player .

Career

Zhou played in Shandong Luneng Taishan's youth teams in 1999 before joining the club's senior squad in the second half of the 2002/03 season. In the following period, the defensive player developed into one of the top performers and attracted attention with good games. In 2006 and 2008 the club won the title in the Chinese Super League . It was the first two championship titles since its inception. In February 2009, the Dutch club PSV Eindhoven finally secured the services of the Chinese and lured him to Europe.

National team

Zhou has been China's national player since 2003, shortly after he made his national breakthrough . On June 1, 2004, he replaced Sun Jihai as the youngest scorer in the national team in the friendly against Hungary . With the U-20, the midfielder took part in the U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands. After surviving the preliminary round without losing points, the team was eliminated in the round of 16 against Germany. In 2004 Zhou was nominated for the Asian Cup in China. The team only had to admit defeat in the final against Japan . However, the defensive player was only used in the opening game. At the 2007 Asian Cup , Haibin graduated from all three group players. After a win, a draw and a defeat, the team was eliminated after the preliminary round. In 2008 he was in the Chinese Olympic squad. Here he belonged to the head of the team and played all three games for the full time. But it wasn't enough to win.
