Zhou Yan ( Chinese  周 妍 , Pinyin Zhōu Yán ; born September 30, 1982 in Harbin ) is a Chinese curler . Most recently she played in the position of lead in Skip Wang Bingyu's team .

At the Curling World Cup in 2008 , she and her teammates were the first Asian team to win a medal (silver) at a world championship. The following year they showed the strongest and most consistent performances of all teams at the World Cup in South Korea and became world champions. She won her last medal at a world championship in  2011  with a third place. Zhou and Wang Bingyu competed in the world championships from 2005 to 2013 and then again in the 2017 world championships , in which the Chinese women finished 11th.

Zhou has so far participated in the Pacific Asia Cup eleven times with Wang Bingyu's   team and has made it into the finals ten times. In 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012 she won the gold medal, in 2004, 2005, 2013 and 2016 the silver medal.

At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she won the bronze medal with her team. They won the game for 3rd place against the Swiss team around Skip Mirjam Ott with 12: 6. Four years later she was back at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , but could only achieve seventh place. In December 2017, she and Wang Bingyu's team secured  one of the last two starting places for the  2018 Winter Olympics  in  Pyeongchang at the Olympic qualifying tournament in  Pilsen . There she played in third and finished fifth with the Chinese team after four wins and five losses in the Round Robin .

Private life

Zhou is married and has one son. She works as a teacher.
