Zhu Shilin

Zhu Shilin ( Chinese  朱石麟 , Pinyin Zhū ​​Shílín , Jyutping Zyu 1 sec 6 leon 4 ; born July 27, 1899 in Taicang , Jiangsu , † January 5, 1967 in Hong Kong ) was a Chinese film director and screenwriter. Between 1930 and 1964 he made at least 80 films.

He began his career in 1930 in Shanghai with the Lianhua film company . There he shot together with Luo Mingyou Guo feng (1935), in which Li Lili , Ruan Lingyu and Zheng Junli play the leading roles.

After the war, Zhu went to Hong Kong and founded the film company Longma together with his colleague Fei Mu, who had also emigrated . His two films Qing gong mi shi / Sorrows of the Forbidden City ( 清宮秘史 / 清宫秘史 , 1948), a historical film, and Zhong qiu yue / Festival Moon ( 中秋月 , 1953) were in 2005 among the 100 best Chinese films selected .
