Sirab (also Zirab , Sir'b, Zir'b, Sir-ab, Sīrāb, Persian زیراب) Is an Iranian city in the district Savadkuh County in the province of Mazandaran .

The city lies at an altitude of 595 meters, completely surrounded by thick forests.

In the area of the city there were repeated lighter earthquakes, most recently two quakes of magnitude 1.3 and 2.0 (at depths of 12 and 10 meters) on May 16, 2007, the center of which was 3 and 17 kilometers away from Sirab .

Economy and Transport

The city is known for mining, especially coal production. 1954 there was a strike of miners , which was put down by the government by force.

The city has a station on the Trans-Iranian Railway .
