Cistercian Abbey My-Ca

The Cistercian abbey My-Ca (Latin: Abbatia BMV de Sanctissimi Corde Iesu ; Vietnamese : Dan Vien Mý-Ca ) has been a Vietnamese monastery near Cam Ranh , province of Khánh Hòa , diocese of Nha Trang since 1934 .

history

The French Lérins Abbey , which had been repopulated by Abbot Marie-Bernard Barnouin in 1869 and founded Rougemont Monastery (Canada) in 1932, reached into the French colony of Vietnam in 1934 (where the Phuoc-Son Monastery already existed) and founded the monastery Our Lady of the Heart of Jesus in My-Ca, which was elevated to an abbey in 2015 . The first abbot was the prior Bao Tinh Tran Van Bao. On July 18, 2019, the monks' convent elected Father Pierre Khoa Nguyen Thai Binh OCist as the second abbot of My-Ca.
