Gordon Schnieder (born July 8, 1975 in Trier ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate since 2016 . He is a member of the 17th electoral term (2016–2021).

Career

After graduating from high school in Gerolstein , Schnieder studied after his military service from 1995 to 1998 at the University of Applied Sciences for Finance North Rhine-Westphalia in Nordkirchen . After graduating as a financial economist, he worked in the financial administration of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia until 2001 before moving to the district administration of the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm . There he worked in the meeting service from January 2002 to April 2004. From May 2004 to March 2014 he was deputy. Treasurer of the Eifel district Bitburg-Prüm. From April 2014 until his election to the state parliament, he was then head of municipal supervision.

Schnieder is the brother of the Bundestag member and former Secretary General of the Rhineland-Palatinate CDU Patrick Schnieder . In 2004 Gordon Schnieder made his first political appearance - initially at the municipal level - and was elected to the district council of the Vulkaneifelkreis . In the election to the district administrator of the Vulkaneifel district in 2007, he could not prevail. The local politician came into the discussion with regard to his role in the failed merger of the Kreissparkasse Vulkaneifel with the Kreissparkasse Bitburg-Prüm. Especially the Eifelzeitung, brought into being by the founder of the TechniSat company Peter Lepper, criticized him. Schnieder has headed the CDU in the Vulkaneifel district since 2010 and the CDU district parliamentary group since 2013. In 2014 he was elected mayor of the Birresborn community and in 2015 was nominated as a direct candidate for the state elections. In the state election on March 13, 2016, he was directly elected to the state parliament as a constituency candidate in constituency 20 - Vulkaneifel. Schnieder lives in Birresborn, is married and has three children.

Until December 2017, Gordon Schnieder was CDU chairman in the study commission for the economic and location factor tourism in Rhineland-Palatinate . This started work in September of the same year.

Schnieder was elected state chairman of the Local Political Association of Rhineland-Palatinate on August 19, 2017. In December 2017, he moved to the Interior Committee of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament and became the local political spokesman for the CDU state parliamentary group.

In addition, Schnieder was elected Vice President of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Music Association in March 2018 .
