NGC 5631 is a 11.4 may bright lenticular Seyfert galaxy (type 2) from the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Big Bear and about 93 million light-years away from the Milky Way.
It was discovered on April 17, 1789 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflecting telescope, who described it as "vB, S, irregularly round, bright irregularly resolvable nucleus, vgmbM".
