NGC 5616 is a 13.8 mag light barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Bear Guardian and about 381 million light years from the Milky Way.
It was discovered on May 1, 1785 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflecting telescope, who described it as "vF, vS, E, easily resolvable".
