NGC 5601 is a 14.7 mag bright spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Bear Keeper in the northern sky . It is an estimated 239 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 5582 , NGC 5598 , NGC 5603 are in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Robert Ball on March 27, 1867 .
