NGC 5575 = NGC 5578 is a 13.4 likes bright lenticular radio galaxy from the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Virgo and about 341 million light-years from the Milky Way center.

It was observed by Wilhelm Herschel on May 12th, 1793 , but he did not publish his discovery because for him the nebulosity of the object decreased when using larger reflector telescopes. Therefore, Albert Marth is considered the official discoverer of NGC 5575 with his observation of May 8, 1864 . Lewis A. Swift followed suit with an observation on May 22, 1884, which led to the second entry in the catalog under NGC 5578 .
