NGC 5552 = NGC 5558 is a 14.1 mag bright galaxy of the Hubble-type S0? in the constellation of Virgo and about 339 million light years from the Milky Way.

It was first discovered by Albert Marth on May 8, 1865 (as NGC 5552 ). Lewis A. Swift's observation of June 14, 1884, in which he said “2 F st. point to it “, led to the second entry in the catalog under NGC 5558 .
