NGC 5582 is a 11.5 may bright elliptical galaxy from the Hubble type E4 in the constellation Bootes and about 68 million light-years from the milk road.
It was discovered on April 29, 1788 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "pB, pL, R, FN".
