NGC 5602 is a 12.7 mag bright spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Bear Guardian in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 105 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on May 15, 1787 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as “pF, pS, lE, mbM”.
