NGC 5654 is a 13.1 mag merging galaxy pair in the Bear Keeper constellation and about 388 million light years from the Milky Way.
It was discovered on May 1, 1785 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "vF, S".
