Cistercian Abbey of La Vassin
The Cistercian abbey of La Vassin (also: Lavaysse ) was a French monastery of the Cistercian sisters in Saint-Donat , a municipality in the Puy-de-Dôme department , from around 1150 to 1792 .
history
Bertrand de La Tour d'Auvergne donated the Vallis Sana ("Healthy Valley") nunnery , later La Vassin or Lavaysse (also: La Veissy ) , around 1150 on the Tarentaine River , 10 kilometers southwest of Saint-Donat, on the border with the Cantal department which was elevated to a royal abbey in 1516 , but was dissolved by the French Revolution in 1792 and was subsequently completely destroyed. Today only the name La Vassin reminds of the monastery.
