The Cistercian Abbey Marham was 1249-1536 a monastery of Cistercian nuns in Marham, County King's Lynn and West Norfolk , in England .

history

Isabelle de Warenne, widow of Hugh de Albini, Earl of Arundel , founded the nunnery of St Mary, St Barbara and St Edmund, southwest of King's Lynn , in 1249 , which was incorporated into the Cistercian Order in 1252 . It was the only Cistercian founding in Norfolk and one of two Cistercian abbeys in England. In 1536 the monastery was closed. The remains of the 62 m long church have been preserved, as well as 37 m full height monastery wall and other ruins (privately owned, not accessible).
