The Cistercian convent Val-Saint-Bernard was 1235-1796 a monastery of Cistercian nuns in Diest , Flemish Brabant , in Belgium .

history

In 1234, Count Arnold IV of Loon donated the Val-Saint-Bernard (“Bernhardstal”) monastery not far from the Demer river , which remarkably changed over to a system of leasing instead of own management from the second half of the 13th century. The monastery later moved to the city of Diest and was closed by the French Revolution in 1796 .
