Zmrzlík von Schweissing (Czech Zmrzlíkové ze Svojšína ) were an old Bohemian and Austrian noble family that belonged to the knighthood. Their ancestors were mentioned in a document as Lords of Welding in the 12th century.

history

The parish village of Welding (Svojšín) , west of Mies (Stříbro) , was the ancestral home of this widely ramified family, whose lines were named after their respective places of residence.

Their common ancestors were Ulrich and Beneda, sons of Tiburz von Schweißing (1175–1196). Family members appear repeatedly in documents (1290: Beneda; 1315: sons Beneda and Heinrich; 1380: Ulrich, Herr auf Schweißing; 1407: Protiwa as part of the property).

Peter von Schweissing , nicknamed Zmrzlík, gained a certain importance. He was on the one hand the supreme mint master as well as the master of Worlik, Karlsberg and Brzeznitz as well as a follower of the Kalixtiner (Kelchner) , a split from the Hussites, and died in 1421 when he was expelled from Tábor. His sons Peter , Johann and Wenzel joined the Taborites . They took part in political life, but also in the Hussite campaigns . Under the rule of George of Podebrady they were among his strong allies. His (probably) great-grandchildren Peter († 1553), Zdenko († 1558) and Wenzel († 1565) Schweing von Zmrzlík died without a male successor.

Protiwa von Schweißing, a relative of Peter, remained true to the old faith and in 1427 belonged to the Pilsen Catholic nobility. His son Zdenko von Schweißing died in 1496.

Possessions were Worlik , Bresnitz , Schlüsselburg , Kašperk castle .

The family is extinct in the male line.
