Tomáš Velímský

Tomáš Velímský (born April 11, 1946 in Satu Mare , Romania ) is a Czech historian .

Life

Tomáš Velímský was born on April 11, 1946 in Romania, from where his family returned to Czechoslovakia in 1948. From 1952 to 1960 he attended a primary school, from which he moved to the grammar school in Ostrava in 1960 . At the University of Brno he studied from 1964 to 1969 at the Philosophical Faculty in the Institute of Prehistory. Initially, Velímský worked as an archaeologist in the Kutná Hora Regional Museum . From 1973 to 1993 he held various positions at the Archaeological Institute of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in Prague and Most (Brüx) . In 1982 he earned the title of PhDr. ( minor PhD degree in philosophy ) at Charles University in Prague . Since 1993 he has been working as a specialist assistant and lecturer at the University of Ústí nad Labem (UJEP) . After receiving his doctorate in 1997 with the thesis "On the Problem of the Beginning of Medieval Cities in Bohemia" as a candidate in science (CSc./PhD.) At the Institute for Archeology of the AdW in Prague and in 1998 at the University in Ústí nad Labem on Czech regional history ( "Trans Montes, ad fontes!"), He received an extraordinary professorship at the Philosophical Faculty there in the same year.

From 2003 he also held lectures on the Bohemian nobility as an honorary lecturer at the Philosophical Faculty of the Charles University in Prague (Institute for Czech History); from 2004 also at the Chair of Historiography at the Technical University of Liberec .

Velímský is married and has three sons, the youngest is also a historian.

Focus

Tomáš Velímský's specialty is medieval archeology and the settlement of northern Bohemia . He also dealt with the beginnings of the local nobility .

Velímský is the author of numerous studies, but he is also the author of several history books. Monographs written by him are:
