Zoë Prévost

Geneviève-Aimée-Zoë Prévost (born April 15, 1802 in Paris , † 1861 in Passy ) was a French opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Eugène Prévost's older sister studied singing with Louis Antoine Ponchard at the Conservatoire de Paris . In 1820 she won a second prize in opera. She made her debut as a soprano at the Théâtre Feydeau before she was engaged at the Opéra-Comique in 1822 .

Here she successfully premiered as Zerlina in Daniel-François-Esprit Auber's Fra Diavolo (January 29, 1830), as Eveline in Jacques Fromental Halévy's La langue musicale , as Raisin in Théodore Labarre's Les Deux familles , as Angélique in José Melchor Gomis' Le Diable à Seville , as Marquise de Sauve in George Onslow's Guise ou les États de Blois and as Baroness von Montbreux in Ambroise Thomas ' Carline .

She played the title role in the opera La Marquise de Brinvillier by Castil-Blaze and Eugène Scribe and won admiration as Madeleine in Adolphe Adam's Der Postillon von Lonjumeau (premiered October 13, 1836). In 1841 she made a successful guest appearance at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels and until 1847 at various French opera houses. From 1847 she worked in Bordeaux at the opera house there, and later in La Haye .

Prévost was married to the tenor Jean-Baptiste Chollet. Her daughter Caroline Prévost was also known as a singer.
