Zoltán Egressy [ ˈzoltaːn ˈɛɡrɛʃi ] (born August 2, 1967 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian poet , writer and playwright .

After completing his university entrance qualification, he studied Hungarian language , literature and history at the Budapest Loránd Eötvös University and graduated in 1990. In 1991 he published a volume of poetry under the title “Kiss Time” (Csókkor) , then he translated Fernando Pessoa and Salvatore Quasimodo into Hungarian. At the same time he was also active as a singer in an underground band and wrote for a theater magazine. Since 1995 he has been writing dramas, radio plays and screenplays. His first work, the drama Sorrel, Fried Potatoes , premiered in the studio theater of the József Katona Theater in Budapest and was a great success with the public. His second play, Portugál , was filmed by Andor Lukáts. Egressy's works have been translated by Albert Koncsek in German-speaking countries. Zoltán Egressy is married to the Hungarian actress Ágnes Bertalan and has two children.
