Zoltán Kovács (weightlifter)

Zoltán Kovács (born August 24, 1977 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian weightlifter .

Career

Kovács achieved fifth place in the class up to 94 kg at the European Championships in 1999 . At the world championships in the same year he was ninth. In 2000 he took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney, where he was sixth. Then he switched to the class up to 105 kg and won bronze in a duel and silver in jerking at the 2001 European Championships . At the 2001 World Championships he was eleventh. In 2002 he finished eighth at the 2002 European Championships . At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, he refused doping control and was banned for two years.
