Zoltan Merszei

Zoltan Merszei (born September 30, 1922 in Budapest ) is a Canadian manager who was CEO at Dow Chemical from 1976 to 1979 .

Merszei was born in Hungary in 1922. In 1939 he fled to Switzerland and studied at the ETH Zurich . He began his career with Dow in Canada in 1949. He spent most of his career in Europe - he became European General Manager in 1961 and President of Dow Europe in 1965. He was u. A. responsible for the construction of the Dow plant in Stade and the expansion of the plant in Terneuzen .

In May 1976, Merszei was named CEO of Dow. In 1978 he was removed from the Board of Directors prematurely because of his leadership style , and was succeeded by Paul F. Oreffice . He was then President from 1979 to 1980 and Vice Chairman until 1986 at Occidental Petroleum .

His son Geoffery Merszei also worked for Dow Chemical.
