The Zona Franca de Manaus , also called Polo Industrial de Manaus , is an industrial park in the city of Manaus in Brazil . It was created by Legislative Decree No. 3.173 of July 6th, 1957, which was supplemented ten years later by Decree No. 228 of February 28th, 1967. It was created with the purpose of giving new impetus to the industrial development of the Amanozas area ( Amazônia Legal ). The Zona Franca de Manaus is currently home to around 600 industries, mainly in the fields of television technology, IT and motorcycles. In recent years, the Zona Franca de Manaus has received new impetus from tax incentives to spread digital television in Brazil.

The Zona Franca de Manaus consists of three economic poles: commerce, industry and agriculture. The former had the greatest increase until the late 1980s, when Brazil pursued a policy of economic independence. The industrial pole is seen as supporting the Zona Franca de Manaus. The approximately 600 companies generate around 500,000 jobs, primarily in the areas of electrical engineering, the two-wheeler industry and chemistry. Among the manufactured products are particularly represented: cell phones , televisions, motorcycles and coolants. In the agricultural sector, there are projects that deal with the production of food. The manufacture of swimming pool supplies and beauty products as well as the processing of wood are also located here.

Overall, the industrial zone grows annually. In 2012 profits of more than $ 37 billion were calculated. While the industrial zone's production is primarily intended for the Brazilian market, around 5% annually is exported to Latin America , Europe and the United States .
