Zoran Dobrić (born August 14, 1960 in Smederevo , Yugoslavia ) is a journalist and has lived in Vienna , Austria since 1988 .

Life

Zoran Dobrić initially worked as a radio reporter and presenter for the local broadcaster "Radio Smederevo" . After moving to Austria, he worked from 1991 to 2003 as a reporter for the ORF programs "X-Large" , "Willkommen Österreich" and "Journal-Panorama" . He then worked for three years for private Austrian broadcasters. From 2006 to June 2016 Dobrić worked as a reporter for the ORF chronicle weekly magazine "Thema" and the political magazine "Report". Since July 2016 Dobrić has been working for ORF "Religion and Science".

On 28 May 2009 Dobrić received for his theme contribution to murder Raven Vollrath from the hands of President Dr. Heinz Fischer the Robert Hochner Prize , which has been awarded by the Austrian journalists' union since 2005. The jury justified this as follows, among other things: Through journalistic persistence and precision by Zoran Dobric, the serious investigative errors of the Tyrolean police and public prosecutor's office around the death of the seasonal worker Raven Vollrath were uncovered and the case that had already been set was reopened.

In 2011 Dobrić received the Prof. Claus Gatterer Prize for his contributions on the subject of “Church and Victims” and “Klasnic Commission”, as well as his longstanding journalistic advocacy for the rights of social minorities and fringe groups .

In 2012, Zoran Dobrić was awarded the “Journalist Prize from Below” by the Austrian Poverty Conference for the ORF report The Forgotten Children of Kiev and Odessa . "The jury was particularly impressed by how Zoran Dobric countered the European football championship in Ukraine with the situation of street children."

Zoran Dobrić was awarded the European CIVIS TV Prize 2016 and the Austrian Dr. Karl Renner Journalism Award 2015 nominated.
