action

Daniel Wiemer as a high roller.

The boxing promoters Highroller and Tank are the fathers of the Night of the Raging Bulls (NOTRB) boxing gala and the heads of the International Raging Bulls Federation (IRBF) boxing association . After a short creative break, Tank decides to return from Africa and to tear Highroller out of his lethargy . They decide to borrow money from a dubious businessman, the Caucasian, in order to give their empire a new look. But when they close an exclusive deal with the pay-TV broadcaster BBN, it becomes clear that the station employee Toothferry is hatching a plan with business lady Donna König. They want to chase Highroller and Tank from their boxing stable and take power at BBN. However, the two boxing promoters have not yet noticed the approaching disaster and are planning their big live event in Berlin.

background

Narrative background

The story of the series and the events parodies the seedy boxing business and its environment of tough guys, easy girls and tough fights. The fictional world of high rollers and tanks is transferred directly to reality, as the NOTRB boxing events actually take place. At these events, viewers can take part in the story live and - after a selection process for the protagonists and intensive training - compete against each other as boxers.

production

The series is produced by Sönke Andersen and Frank Dahlmann of the Cologne company A³ GmbH. The series was written and directed by Christopher Becker and Daniel Rakete Siegel . The staff also includes Peter Hümmeler , Stephan Schiffers , Paul Pieck , Nicole Kortlüke , Stefen Schmitt and Jens Nolte . The series is broadcast on a platform of the sports portal Sport1.de .

Night of the Raging Bulls

The Night of the Raging Bulls (NOTRB) event has been taking place at least once a year since 2004 in Cologne (including the Gloria Theater ), additionally in Hamburg ( Uebel & Hazardous ) and Berlin in 2008, in Vienna and Düsseldorf in 2009 and is considered the most successful German amateur boxing event . The event has been taking place in the Cologne hall, Tor 2 , since 2011 .

At the NOTRB, real boxing matches meet a staged spectacle around the boxing promoter duo Highroller and Tank. Four world championship fights will take place according to the regulations of the specially founded world association IRBF. Anyone who survives the organizers' selection process is allowed to box. The audience is also directly involved, at the NOTRB there are no judges or referees who decide whether to win or lose, but rather the audience with applause. In order to advertise themselves to the audience in advance, the boxers present themselves in advance at a press conference and introduce themselves on the Internet with trailers.

The “Night of the Raging Bulls 2004-2014 • Golden Weddings” , announced as the last event, took place on May 23, 2014 in Cologne.

reception

Christian Parth described the NOTRB in Stern magazine as “the only event worth seeing for amateur boxers in Germany”.
