Raphael Rubino

Raphael Rubino (born November 25, 1971 in Essen ) is a German actor.

Life

Raphael Rubino first studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Markus Lüpertz .

During his studies he worked as a set assistant and set designer for various opera and drama productions and after this experience decided to study acting. He was trained as an actor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz . While still a student, Rubino made guest appearances at the Schauspielhaus Hamburg and at the Burgtheater in Vienna. There he worked with the directors Einar Schleef and Wilfried Minks , among others .

In 1999 he followed the call of artistic director Klaus Weise to the Theater Oberhausen and quickly became one of the protagonists in the ensemble. Raphael Rubino caused a stir in 2002 as Rod in Sarah Kane's play Gesäubert am Theater Oberhausen, in which he had a gay sex act with partner Andreas Laurenz Maier .

When Klaus Weise took over the management of the Theater der Bundesstadt Bonn in 2003 , Raphael Rubino moved with him to Bonn. In Kristof Magnusson's play Männerhort (premiered in 2003) Rubino played the plump fireman Mario and became a crowd favorite. He was also seen at the Bonn Theater as Georg Büchner's Woyzeck , as Abram in Martin Sperr 's Hunting Scenes from Lower Bavaria , as Orin in Eugene O'Neill's Mourning Electra , as Jakorew in Maxim Gorki's The Last , as William Shakespeare's Othello and, most recently, as Matti in Brechts Herr Puntila and his servant Matti . In Bonn he worked with the directors Werner Schroeter , Kay Voges , Stefan Otteni , Johann Kresnik and Klaus Weise .

In 2012 he moved to the ensemble of the Hans Otto Theater Potsdam . In Potsdam he appeared in Bergman's Das Schlangenei , as Mitch in Williams' Endstation Sehnsucht , as Hans Grill in waves by Eduard von Keyserling , as Lopachin in Chekhov's Der Kirschgarten . In Potsdam he worked with the directors Elias Perrig , Tobias Wellemeyer , Niklas Ritter , Christoph Mehler and Barbara Bürk .

In 2014, Artistic Director Wilfried Schulz won him for a role at the Dresden State Theater in Philipp Löhles We Are Not Barbarians ! .

Raphael Rubino has been a member of the State Theater in Nuremberg since 2018 . At the State Theater he works a. a. with Anne Lenk , Jan Philipp Gloger , Andreas Kriegenburg , Christian Brey , Philipp Preuss and Tina Lanik .

Raphael Rubino a. a. seen in Stromberg and Gegen den Wind . From 2008 to 2010 he played one of the two main roles in the web series Highroller and Tank alongside Daniel Wiemer .

As a musician, he stood out above all as the singer in the band TheMannMannMannManns , in which he is on stage alongside his fellow actor Daniel Wiemer .
