occupation

Blaumacher is a black-humored German television series that is about a highly suicidal duo - a husband, entrepreneur and father in their mid-forties and a freshly graduated high school graduate who is not even half her age . The first broadcast of the series, filmed under the working title “The Summer of My Life” from August 16 to October 13, 2016 in Berlin, began on June 7, 2017 on ZDFneo .

action

For Frank Sporbert, husband, father and successful medium- sized company, everything seems to be going perfectly: The flawless facade, including the modern single-family house and climate-neutral car , has cracks. His wife Carmen has had an affair with her fitness trainer for some time , and for his children Max and Becky it is just a kind of ATM. Even in his company, Frank seems meaningless. His employees complete important deals themselves, and his absence is not even noticed. Frank feels empty and without perspective.

Neighbor's daughter Sascha Decker is standing in front of his door. Barely half as old as Frank, she feels just as empty and lost as he does. The daughter of wealthy parents could have anything she wants - but she is not noticed in her family. Sascha has no desire to enter into the life preconceived by her parents.

reception

"If ZDFneo in tragicomedy makes it can be a bit rough. In general ... some things seem familiar. Not only the (taken from Zach BraffsGarden State ”) total match in color and pattern of the short-sleeved shirt and wallpaper background. And when the actor Josef Heynert - here as the appropriately dumb average German Thomas Müller - puts horns on the protagonist , then the viewer experiences a déjà vu , because that is exactly Heynert's permanent task in the Rostock “ police call ”. Neighbor's daughter: "Be honest - pull the plug because of the woman? If you don't fuck her , then you haven't missed her either! ”Evil pointed dialogues are a supreme discipline - and a dangerously fine line if the author is not Wilder or Tarantino or Dietl (but Bernd Lange ). And whether all the redundancies are casually quoted or are rather cheaply copied - after two episodes both appear possible. In any case, you have to be grateful to your old aunt ZDF , if she doesn't completely new, but just not sucked out - you probably say: unused - TV faces ... prepares a new stage. "

- Jens Müller : The daily newspaper

“[As]“ Midlife-Crisis meets Coming of Age ”[belongs to the series]… in the phalanx of pieces… with which the Second wants to reach the younger audience on its second channel… The… authors… turn the characters of the story crazy the wolf. Here everyone fails by line and thread, which is mostly brushed on to comedy in the individual scenes and dialogues , but does not turn into a joke parade . Meanwhile, the camerawoman Eeva Fleig creates tableaus that speak for themselves with images that always look a bit like " Breaking Bad " . "

- Michael Hanfeld : Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung

“The narrative is more reminiscent of American independent cinema than of German series or television films. The dramaturgy has an episodic character, melancholy covers the images, structure and mood resemble a rock song. " Smells Like Teen Spirit " is also intoned in episode 1. The series captivates with tragic-comic moments and a film language in which symbolic iconography and optical sensuality stimulate each other. "

- Volker Bergmeister : Tittelbach.tv

“Cinema author Bernd Lange and his colleagues in the Writers' Room have written an unusual story that gives viewers room for interpretation in many places and, despite the dark basic theme, manages to make the audience laugh through scenes that are sometimes absurd. The directors Pia Strietmann and Maurice Hübner (" Braun family ") have picked up on this thread and created a coherent overall picture that is as modern as it is creative with the right music and good ideas. "
