Zoran Kosanović
Zoran Zoki Kosanović (born January 16, 1956 , † February 4, 1998 in Canada ) was a Yugoslav and Canadian table tennis player . With the Yugoslav team he was European champion in 1976 .
Yugoslavia
Kosanović represented Yugoslavia at all five world championships from 1973 to 1981. He was runner- up with the team in 1975 . A year later he became European champion with the team in Prague. In doubles with Milivoj Karakašević he reached the semi-finals at the 1978 European Championship.
At the Balkan Championships he won 11 titles, namely from 1974 to 1978 five times in a row with the team, in 1976, 1977 and 1978 in singles, in 1977 and 1978 in doubles and in 1977 in mixed. From 1975 to 1979 he was five times Yugoslav champion. His best placement in the ITTF world rankings was 7th.
Canada
He married in Canada in September 1979 and has lived in Toronto ever since. Here he showed himself to be superior in numerous Canadian and North American tournaments. In 1981 he won the North American Championship and in 1982 the US Open. At the 1983 World Cup in Tokyo, he competed for Canada.
In 1998 Kosanović died of a heart attack during a soccer game in which he was an active participant.
Private
Kosanović was married to the Canadian Darinka, with whom he had a daughter and a son.
