Zouan-Hounien is a place in the West African Republic of the Ivory Coast . It is located in the west of the country and is close to the border with the Republic of Liberia in the province of Dix-Huit Montagnes .
As a result of the civil war in the Republic of Ivory Coast, which has not yet ended, the armistice line runs near the city in accordance with the Treaty of Ouagadougou . On February 24, 2011, in the wake of the 2010/2011 government crisis , fighting between Laurent Gbagbo's government troops and the Forces Nouvelles (FN) took place in Zouan-Hounien for the first time in six years .
