Zouar is a small town in northwest Chad in the Tibesti region created in 2008 . Zouar is the capital of the Tibesti Ouest department . The settlement lies in an oasis in the Tibesti Mountains and is the seat of Derde, the religious and political head of the Teda , who make up the majority of the inhabitants of the Tibesti. Zouar was temporarily contested in the Libyan-Chadian border war .
Zouar can be reached via the Zouar airfield , among other places .
