Sugar Loaf Bell
Sugar loaf bells are among the early European bronze bell shapes .
In the late 12th century, the sugar loaf shape developed, before the beehive bell was the most common shape. Some examples of this type of bell still exist.
From the Sugar Loaf, the next phase of bell types developed through intermediate forms, namely the Gothic rib , the oldest surviving example of which can be dated to the year 1200.
A complete sugar loaf bell ensemble (based on G sharp 1 ) from 1221 is located in the Ober-Mockstädter parish church.
