history
The village was first mentioned under the name “Wettiffa” in 832 in the Lorsch Codex . Niederwetz is divided into two parts by the Wetzbach. Originally one half belonged to Nassau-Weilburg , the other half to Solms-Braunfels. In 1823 the two districts were merged by the then district administrator.
One church is mentioned as early as the 13th century. The current church was rebuilt in 1955 after a lightning strike destroyed the previous building. Only the choir remained.
