Zuiderkerk (Enkhuizen)
The Zuider - or Sint-Pancratiuskerk is a Reformed church in Enkhuizen in the Netherlands .
history
In 1421 the church of Oostdorp, located outside the dike, was destroyed in a flood. Duke Johann III. von Bayern-Holland gave permission the following year to demolish the old church and start a new building within the diked area. In 1458 the church, a two-aisled, late Gothic hall church, was largely completed. The tower was completed by 1524. Inside is a carillon made by the Hemony brothers . In the 16th century the church passed to the Reformed, who still use it today as a worship service. The vault paintings, whitewashed after the Reformation, were exposed again in the 20th century. Between 2001 and 2004 the church was restored.
The church is currently used by the Enkhuizen parish of the Protestant Church in the Netherlands .
organ
The organ goes back to an instrument from the 16th century, which was expanded in the 17th century. The instrument was last extensively restored in the years 1988 to 1990 by the organ building company Flentrop (Zaandam), which also reversed temporary changes and brought them back to the state of 1799. The instrument has 21 stops on two manuals and a pedal . The registers of the main work from the 16th century, the registers of Rugwerks from the year 1799. The tracker action are mechanical.
