To the Swiss
The restaurant Zum Schweizer (also Zum Schweizerwirt ) or the Uralte Fuxtafern is an inn in the municipality of Lofer in Salzburg's Pinzgau / Zell am See district that has existed since the 16th century .
history
Since Lofer used to be an important transshipment point for goods, the ancient Fuxtafern arose early at the fork in the road between Munich and Salzburg ; it was first mentioned in a document in 1546. The first known owner was Michael Gräßl (* 1601), who asked for the license in 1621 .
During the French Wars, the inn suffered severe damage from troops passing through. In 1899, the carriage house was torn away by a flood.
In 1892, the Swiss landlord Josef Dandl opened a swimming pool behind the inn, today's Steinbergbad , which quickly developed into a local attraction. In winter, when it was not possible to bathe, the bath was used to make ice. The pool was renovated in the 1990s and has had a water slide and sunbathing area since then . A part of the small Mühlbach, which can be used for swimming, has also been integrated.
In 1935 the house got hot water, in 1999 an extension followed and in 2004 a renovation.
business
The Schweizerwirt has been run by the Kracher family since 1972 and is now also run as a pension . The company currently has three dining rooms and 50 rooms.
