Zvezdan Jovanović

Zvezdan Jovanović ( Serbian - Cyrillic Звездан Јовановић ; born July 19, 1965 in Breznica , SFR Yugoslavia ), fighting name Zveki (Звеки) or Zmija (Змија, to German snake), is a trained Serbian sniper . His real profession was a locksmith . His military career began in 1991 as a mercenary in the Freischar "Serbian Volunteer Guard" . He took part in various combat operations and was later included in the newly formed JSO (Serbian Jedinica za Specialne Operacije, German unit for special operations). It was also used during the Kosovo War. His last position in the JSO was vice-commander.

He was one of the main defendants in the Đinđić murder case . He withdrew his initial confession on the grounds that he had made it under threat of violence. According to the Court, it is proven that he undoubtedly on the trigger of the Heckler & Koch - G3 was -Sturmgewehres and Đinđić thus mortally wounded. Zvezdan Jovanović has been sentenced to 40 years in prison. To this day he denies the act.
