The Zwölfer (also Zwölferkopf ) is a 2224 m high mountain peak in the Allgäu Alps .
Location and surroundings
It is located west-northwest of the Elferkopf and is connected to it by a ridge. The Zwölferkopf is the last summit of the side ridge, which branches off to the northwest at the Liechelkopf and bears the Elferkopf as the most important summit.
The mountain is a typical Zwölfer-Berg as a time indicator, one of the few who also have an “Elfer” with them: Seen from Hirschegg in Kleinwalsertal, where the two characteristically dominate the valley, the sun rises over the summit of the Elfer at eleven o'clock . An hour later then over the Zwölferkopf.
Ascent
No marked path leads to the Zwölferkopf. It can be reached without a path from the Gemsteltal . This climb requires surefootedness and mountain experience. Usually, the ascent of the Zwölferkopf takes place in the course of an ascent of the neighboring, higher Elferkopf.
