The Baisigou Square Pagoda ( Chinese  拜寺口双塔 , Pinyin Bàisìkǒu shuāngtǎ ) are located at the eastern foot of Helan Mountains on a plateau in the area of the circle Helan of the administrative area of the prefecture-level city Yinchuan , capital of the Autonomous Region Ningxia of Hui Nationality in the People's Republic of China .

Wood research using the C-14 method showed that they were built in the middle or late Xixia period . The temple in between was destroyed by earthquakes.

The pagodas have slightly different shapes, are made of hollow bricks, are octagonal with thirteen storeys and have wide eaves. The eastern pagoda is 39 m high, the western 36 m.

They have been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (3–154) since 1988 .

The third pagoda

Buddhist scripture written in Xixia script

Approx. Ten kilometers away there was a third pagoda with a square floor plan ( fangta ) in a side valley . This was destroyed by vandals in 1990. During clearing-up work in August and September 1991, archaeologists under the direction of the Xixia specialist Niu Dasheng 牛 达 fanden found, among other things, an edition of the Buddhist work Lucky spreading sutra continuation or continuation, written in Xixia script , with movable wood types ( muhuozi ) for Propitiousness Everywhere Reading Edition ( 吉祥 遍 至 口 和 本 续 , Ji xiang bian zhi kou he ben xu ) from the time of the Xixia , which is now kept in the Research Institute for Cultural Objects and Archeology of Ningxia .
