Between love and anger lasts 4 minutes and 35 seconds in the original version. The rock song is composed in a minor key. Each four uniform lines are followed by a guitar riff with flute accompaniment. After the second riff, the chorus is sung significantly higher and more intense. Another stanza is followed by a longer solo of electric guitar and organ , another time the chorus, another stanza as at the beginning and a short flute solo . The conclusion is formed by two repeated stanzas and the short coda .

The high vocal part in the chorus was inspired by Whole Lotta Love from Led Zeppelin .

The text refers to the theory and practice of a revolution or socialism . The (local) rulers are almost blatantly accused of only talking about revolution but not practicing it. The spirit of the Paris Commune of 1871 is portrayed as exemplary.

"Tomorrow is revolution in today, there is no bed and no throne for the ass of satisfied people."
