Zygfryd Ludwik Szołtysik (born October 24, 1942 in Trockenberg , district of Beuthen-Tarnowitz , German Empire ) is a former Polish football player .

Club career

The 1.62 m midfielder Zygfryd Szołtysik spent most of his professional career with the Polish record champions Górnik Zabrze . With the club he won several Polish championships and cup victories. In 1970 he was with Górnik Zabrze in the final of the Cup Winners' Cup, but lost to Manchester City 1: 2. His first move abroad ( US Valenciennes in France ) was not particularly successful and so he returned to Górnik Zabrze after only one season. Here he spent another three successful seasons before moving to the second division club Górnik Knurów in 1978 . In 1984 he ended his professional career. From 1986 to 1990 he played again as an amateur at SC Eintracht Hamm and SVA Bockum-Hövel .

National team

Szołtysik played 46 times for Poland from 1963 to 1972 , scoring 10 goals. His greatest success was the gold medal at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich . Shortly after the Olympics , he ended his national team career.
