The Zymoetz River , also known locally as the Copper River , is a larger orographic left tributary of the Skeena River in the northwest of the Canadian province of British Columbia , which contributes about 10 percent to its water volume.
The Zymoetz River rises in the Hazelton Mountains , a mountain range east of the Kitimat Ranges . The headwaters are about 15 km southwest of Smithers . Aldrich Lake, Dennis Lake and McDonnell Lake are located on the upper reaches. Below McDonnell Lake, Serb Creek flows into the Zymoetz River from the south. The Zymoetz River then flows 25 km to the west, turns south for the next 40 km and flows again to the west for its last 40 km. The Zymoetz River eventually flows into the Skeena River 7.5 km east-northeast of Terrace . Major tributaries of the Zymoetz River are Serb Creek, Clore River, Kitnayakwa River, and Limonite Creek. The British Columbia Highway 37 (Stewart-Cassiar Highway) crosses the Zymoetz River immediately above the mouth.
The Zymoetz River has a total length of approximately 130 km. Below McDonnell Lake, the river length is approximately 109 km. The catchment area of the Zymoetz River covers 3,080 km². The mean discharge 13 km above the mouth is 106 m³ / s. The months of May, June and July are the most flowable.
