The province of Adana is located in southern Turkey , south of the Taurus Mountains . In terms of population, it is the sixth largest province in Turkey . The capital is Adana , important districts are also Ceyhan , Seyhan , Yüreğir and Kozan . The Çukurova region in the south of the province is traversed by the Seyhan and Ceyhan rivers and is very fertile. The capital Adana is a center of the Turkish textile industry and a railway junction. The Incirlik Air Base of NATO is here.

In 1909 the Adana massacre against the Armenian minority took place here. The Armenian monasteries Akner and Arqakaghni, built in the 12th century, are located near Adana .

Administrative division

Adana has been a big city commune ( Büyükşehir belediyesi ) since 1986 . After an administrative reform in 2014, all districts are directly subordinate to the Lord Mayor of Adana. The former mayors of the municipalities ( Belediye ) were downgraded to the rank of Muhtar . Thus, the districts are also the 15 city districts:
