The Morgan County is a county in the state of Colorado of the United States . The county seat is in Fort Morgan .

The county is in northeast Colorado. Its shape is almost square. It is surrounded by Weld , Logan , Washington, and Adams Counties .
history
Morgan County was separated from Weld County in 1889. The name of Morgan County comes from the administrative seat of the county (Fort Morgan). Interstate 76 runs through the county from Denver to Nebraska . The South Platte River runs through the county.

The county had a population of 27,171 as of the 2000 census . There were 9,539 households and 6,973 families. The population density was 8 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 79.65 percent white, 0.33 percent African American, 0.81 percent Native American, 0.17 percent Asian, 0.17 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 16.37 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 2.48 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 31.18 percent of the total population.
Of the 9,539 households, 37.9 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 59.7 percent were married couples living together, 9.0 percent were single mothers. 26.9 percent were not families. 23.0 percent were single households and 10.9 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.80 and the average family size was 3.29 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 30.4 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 8.5 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 28.2 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 19.8 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 13.0 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 100.4 males, for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 98.3 males.
The median income for a household in the 34,568 USD , and the median income for a family was 39,102 USD. Males had a median income of $ 27,361 versus $ 21,524 for females. The per capita income was $ 15,492. 12.4 percent of the population and 8.5 percent of families are below the poverty line. This included 15.3 percent of the population under the age of 18 and 9.5 percent of the population aged 65 and over.
