Samuel Byrns
Samuel Byrns (born March 4, 1848 in Jefferson County , Missouri , † July 9, 1914 in De Soto , Missouri) was an American politician . Between 1891 and 1893 he represented the state of Missouri in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Samuel Byrns was born on a farm in Jefferson County. After studying law and his admission as a lawyer in 1872, he began to work in Hillsboro in this profession. In 1872 he also became a tax collector in Jefferson County. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Byrns was a member of the Missouri House of Representatives in 1876 and 1877 ; In 1878 he was a member of the State Senate . He was also a member of the regional democratic party executive from 1886 to 1888.
In the congressional election of 1890 Byrns was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of Missouri , where he succeeded William Medcalf Kinsey on March 4, 1891 . Since he was no longer nominated for re-election by his party in 1892, he was only able to complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1893 . After leaving the US House of Representatives, Byrns practiced law again. He died on July 9, 1914 in Do Soto and was buried in Hillsboro.
