Series A 1987/88

The Serie A 1988/89 was the 57th season in the top Italian football -Spielklasse of Lords. It began on October 9, 1988 and ended on June 25, 1989. As promoters, FC Bologna , US Lecce , Lazio Rome and Atalanta Bergamo from Serie B were added.

Inter Milan ended the season as champions and became AC Milan’s successor . Inter and Milan qualified for the European Champion's Cup as winners of the 1988/89 European Champion's Cup . SSC Napoli , Juventus Turin and Bergamo, AC Florence and AS Roma qualified for the UEFA Cup , with Florence winning 1-0 through a fourth UEFA Cup contestant. Via Coppa Italia , Sampdoria Genua secured participation in the European Cup Winners' Cup of the following year. Relegated to Serie B had to Torino Calcio , Pescara Calcio , Pisa SC and Como Calcio .
