Aldo Serena (born June 25, 1960 in Montebelluna (TV) , Italy ) is a former Italian football player .

During his active career he played as a striker and was best known for his header strength. Today Serena works as a television commentator for Mediaset .

Career

In the club

Aldo Serena started his career with his hometown club, Montebelluna, after which he played for Inter Milan , Como Calcio , AS Bari , AC Milan , Juventus Turin and Torino Calcio .

Serena was part of the Inter dei record team, which won the Scudetto under Giovanni Trapattoni in the 1988/89 season, and was Serie A's top scorer with 22 goals that season .

In the national team

Aldo Serena played for Italy in the 1984 Summer Olympics , where Italy finished fourth. Aldo Serena made his debut in the national team on December 8, 1984 in a 2-0 win against Poland and took part with Italy in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico . In 1989 and 1990 in particular, he was a regular in the Squadra Azzurra and was also involved in the 1990 World Cup in his own country. He missed the decisive penalty in the penalty shoot-out in the semi-finals against Argentina , after which he only played three games for the national team, the last against Cyprus on December 22, 1990 . He made a total of 23 international matches for Italy, scoring five goals.
